On the verge of the 21st century, when world class technology is back by scientific ideas Production Engineering adding a new dimension to technology, ushering welfare to mankind. Planning and controlling the design, development and operation of manufacturing systems is the principle feature of Engineering Production. It channelises scientific ideas, concepts and developments to attain economic objectives through increased productivity with ensured quality and quantity.

In the present scenario of global competition and liberalisation of economy, the products have to be manufactured as per international quality standards. This requires an integrated approach towards design, manufacturing and management of production. The discipline of Production Engineering provides the necessary knowledge, analytical skills and training. It is a multidisciplinary study dealing with the processes, methodologies and management in transforming technologically a set of inputs into desired output with the optimum utilisation of human resources, goods and services.

Industry has always felt the need for engineering graduateswho have had intensive inplant training and are sufficiently well versed in modern management techniques.

The Production Engineering course is an attempt to blend these aspirations. The aim is to have a person readily adaptable to the industrial environment, a technically sound man, well versed with managerial skills required in the industry.
